Special features to greatly improve the ease of use ...

The JDResearch Intel HaM hardware modem allows you to adjust COM port setting, DOS mode setup, and IRQ sharing option by adding this "HaM Configuration" icon to the Control Panel.

This icon is also called Modem Front Panel in the modem documentation.

Inside the Modem Front Panel, you have the option of supporting DOS operation and allowing IRQ Sharing to alleviate the situation of not having enough free IRQ in the system.

Inside the Modem Front Panel, you can also manually adjust the COM port assignment for this modem. The initial modem plug-n-play installation would search for an available COM port to assign to the modem. The included CD driver disc allows for little or no user guidance in the installation process.

This system initially had an Infrared Drive installed on COM4. When the JDResearch Intel HaM modem is installed in the system, it found the default COM4 is taken. It then automatically assign itself on COM3 which was a free port at the time.
