If Windows 95 automatically detected the Infrared Drive, please jump to step 4: 1) Go to the Start Button and select settings from the first window. Then select Control Panel from the following selection. Once the control panel is up, select the Add New Hardware icon. Select Next from the first window. 2) In the second window, the program asks you if you want Windows to search for the new device. Select NO and select Next. Windows then enters the next selection and a list of different types of Hardware comes up. Select Infrared from the selection. (If the Infrared icon is not available, you need to download the IR driver, and follow the driver installation instructions. ) 3) Select next. Windows will then tell you that it will ask for virtual COM and LPT ports. Select next and a list of available ports will show up. 4) Please select COM and LPT ports that are NOT currently utilized. Typically a virtual port such as COM5/LPT3 will suffice. Select next and allow Windows to restart your system. 5) After Windows restarts enter the Control panel again and select the Infrared icon. Select the options tab and make sure that the Infrared is enabled on the real COM port selected in the CMOS BIOS. 6) If infrared does not start, go to "My Computer", do a single right-click and select properties from the list. Then select the Device Manager tab. A list of different devices will be shown. Please expand the ports tree and look for conflicting IO, and IRQ resources by selecting the port and looking under resources. Manual changes may be changed by the user by deselecting the use automatic settings and selecting a free COM/IRQ address. Make changes / restart the system / and repeat steps 5-6 as necessary.
When there are no more conflicts, the Infrared Drive should be working.
To allow IrDA file transfer between 2 computers, you should
load the IR File
Transfer Program on both systems. Windows 98 users have this
program intergrated. There is no need to load this file. To transfer
data with consumer electronics such as digital cameras, cellular phones,
etc. You may need to load additional software that comes with the products.
